Conditions on Lake Chatuge are generally calm and predictable, especially in the bays immediately around Mayor's Park. The lake is sheltered by surrounding ridges, which keeps wind exposure manageable for most paddlers. You'll find plenty of flat-water paddling opportunities if you stick to the coves, though the main lake body can develop some texture on breezy afternoons.
