The water is typically calm to slightly choppy, making it ideal for building bay paddling skills before tackling more exposed areas. Getting to Alviso Marina requires driving through some light industrial areas, but the route is straightforward via Highway 237 to Gold Street. The boat ramp is concrete and well-maintained, suitable for launching everything from kayaks to small powerboats. Parking is ample and free, with restrooms available at the park. The ramp can get busy on weekends with anglers and recreational boaters, so arrive early for the best parking spots closest to the water. High tide launches are much easier than low tide, when you might face a longer carry across exposed mud.
