About This Route
One of Florida's most popular spring-fed paddles, the Ichetucknee Springs Run takes you through pristine hardwood hammock along crystal-clear 72°F water. Starting at the headspring inside Ichetucknee Springs State Park, the lazy current carries you downstream through a canopy of cypress and live oak.
The first mile passes several spring vents visible beneath the surface, each adding to the river's impressive flow. Manatees occasionally visit in winter months, and you'll likely spot softshell turtles, great blue herons, and possibly river otters along the way.
The take-out at the US 27 bridge marks the end of the upper run, which is the most scenic section. The park manages paddler capacity, so the experience never feels crowded despite the river's popularity.
