The best paddling typically happens during slack tide periods around high and low water, when current is minimal and the harbor sits like glass. Wind is your primary concern rather than water movement; the open expanse means afternoon sea breezes can build throughout the day, so an early morning paddle is often your best bet for glass-flat conditions.
