Arkabutla Lake

Arkabutla Lake is a 29,500-acre U.S. Army Corps of Engineers impoundment in northern Mississippi that offers straightforward, accessible paddling for beginners and casual paddlers. Located just 2.4 miles from the town of Arkabutla, the lake sits in a relatively undeveloped area with good public access via the main boat ramp. The water is generally clear in deeper sections and bordered by wooded shorelines typical of north Mississippi, making it visually pleasant without being dramatic. This is a working recreation area rather than a destination paddling spot, but it serves its purpose well for locals and nearby visitors looking for a quick paddle without traveling far.

On the water, expect flat, sheltered conditions most of the year.
